Diophantine Equations and Congruences over Function Fields
We generalize the methods of Pierce of counting solutions to the congruence X ≡ Y b mod D [8] and the square sieve method of counting squares in the sequence f(X) + g(Y ) [7] to the function field setting.
متن کاملSolvability of Systems of Two Polynomial Equations over Finite Fields
In this paper we determine the solvability of families of systems of two polynomial equations over finite fields by computing the exact divisibility of the exponential sums associated to the systems. This generalizes a theorem of Carlitz to systems of two equations. Our result gives an upper bound for the Waring number of systems of diagonal equations. Also, as a by-product, we also obtain info...
متن کاملSolving systems of diagonal polynomial equations over finite fields
We present an algorithm to solve a system of diagonal polynomial equations over finite fields when the number of variables is greater than some fixed polynomial of the number of equations whose degree depends only on the degree of the polynomial equations. Our algorithm works in time polynomial in the number of equations and the logarithm of the size of the field, whenever the degree of the pol...
متن کاملOn multivariable asymmetric public-key cryptography based on simultaneous algebraic Riccati equations over finite fields
Many encryption schemes based on Multivariable Quadratic Equations (MQE) over finite fields were suggested in the last three decades and many were broken (see [1]). Apparently, the broken systems were based on some hidden structure, which on one hand enabled the efficient invertibility of the system, but on the other hand was found to be vulnerable to algebraic attacks. Almost all the MQE based...
متن کاملOn Thue equations of splitting type over function fields
In this paper we consider Thue equations of splitting type over the ring k[T ], i.e. they have the form X(X − p1Y ) · · · (X − pd−1Y )− Y d = ξ, with p1, . . . , pd−1 ∈ k[T ] and ξ ∈ k. In particular we show that such Thue equations have only trivial solutions provided the degree of pd−1 is large, with respect to the degree of the other parameters p1, . . . , pd−2.
